From the Desert to the River

We needed to travel the road before we could travel the waters

The journey of a thousand miles was missing the first step: I had to get from Arizona to Oregon and the boat! Life sometimes seems to take its time when all you want to do is get things done quickly. If you read the last post, you know that the original invite was back in July 2012 - the journey to Oregon didn't happen for me until May 2014!

The delay was due to Dovid dealing with going to court over back pay in Louisiana. If you know law suits, you know it takes a LOT of time to get things done! Between that and my lack of funds to leave, we had our work cut out for us!

We did work it all out after Dovid got his settlement and I had saved a bit from the part time job that I had taken. I flew to Louisiana and then we drove from there to Oregon. The plan was coming together!

Stay tuned for how our first summer at the marina went!

Thanks for coming along!

Hi! My name is Niccolea Miouo Nance.  I am a poet, artist, amateur fire-spinner, and soon to be world traveler via sailboat. I love learning new things and challenging myself (hence this project). Above all else, I love to enjoy life and be spontaneous.

Below are links to press regarding the sailing trip around the world. Plus, a local Portland, OR TV station may pick it up as well. Stay tuned!

The Childhood Dream Gains a Partner

Working towards exploring the WHOLE WORLD!

Every dream requires work to come to pass. Ideas bear fruit and come together to form an actual plan with working steps and next thing you know... MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

Dial back time to July 2012. Our beloved Captain Dovid was going through the things of life. He was a man with a boat and a dream, but something was missing. Company! Sailing around the world is a grand idea and people do it by themselves all the time, but having a good friend along to share it with just seemed like a much better idea I would imagine.

This is where I come in. I had been putting it out to the universe for about a year that I wanted to leave the USA and finally see some of this big wide world. I just couldn't decide where or how. Then Dovid invited me to see THE WHOLE WORLD via sailing with him! Of course I said YES!

So there I was in dry Arizona with the invitation to sail around the world from Astoria, Oregon. Now to figure out how to get to the boat! Stay tuned for the point A to point B story!

The Beginning of a Grand Journey

The world is a big place but we are ready to go out and explore it!

Once upon a time a young child had a dream. This child dreamt of sailing beyond the Gulf of Mexico where the family would take their Venture 25 out for short trips,  out into the big deep blue and all the way around the world. Well this child is now a man and has his own boat and a plan to do just that!

This blog will be the weekly (or more) chronicle of all the things that are being done to prepare for this grand journey. I will tell the tale as best I can as Captain Dovid's trusty first mate. Thank you for your interest in our trip! Stay tuned for more!
